Teenage Celebrity Obsessions

We all know that the "best years of your life", AKA junior high, are claimed to be years of fun, growth, self-creation, ya-da-ya-da-ya. The truth really is that the years of middle school are probably the most awkward and troublesome years to come. One irksome thing that usually leads to embarrassment in the future, is teenage celebrity or character obsessions.
Anywhere from a few months to a few years of a teen's life are primarily committed to researching, saving photos, and even creating fan art, fiction, crafts, or songs of their obsession. Think about it, if a teenager had their same obsession of a celebrity on a normal person, it would be considered stalking. Although these great loves for celebrities may seem like more of a modern craze, they actually go pretty far back.
From the 1960-1970s one big celebrity group was The Beatles. Middle school girls wailed, screamed, and even fainted at concerts, resulting in the inability to even hear The Beatles performing. The wild fans of The Beatles can be compared to today's fans of One Direction. Great similarities can be shown in fan books, pins, toys, and clothing, but by the age of 17 or older, the fascination of the celebrity usually dies down.

Thirteen-year-old girls who are "in love" with Justin Bieber now, will look back in the years to come and hang their heads in shame! They will throw out their Justin Bieber blankets, discard their singing toothbrushes, and disown their Justin Bieber dolls all in fits of fury.
